Port of Seward Vessel Shore Power Implementation

About
the Project

The City of Seward, with the Alaska Railroad and the Seward Company, is installing shore power technology and its associated infrastructure upgrades at the head of Resurrection Bay in Seward, Alaska. The Port of Seward Vessel Shore Power Implementation Project would power two cruise ships while docked at the new cruise ship passenger dock currently under construction in Seward. This project will reduce air toxins and greenhouse gases released by cruise ship vessels docked in Seward through the installation of shore power equipment and a Battery Energy Storage System.
